Katie Lansdale, Violin

Violinist Katie Lansdale is surely one of the most admired performer-teachers in the US.  From a performance at the White House as a child, and her debut with the Baltimore Symphony at age 14, she has been in great demand both as a soloist and in chamber music.  She has performed with Yo-Yo Ma in Avery Fisher Hall, and at international festivals in Germany, France, and Finland.  She is a founding member of the highly acclaimed Lions Gate Trio, trio-in-residence at the Hartt School of Music, where she is also professor of violin.  Her recent recording of the solo sonatas and partitas of J. S. Bach has quickly become famous, and it is from this repertoire that she will select her program for Promisek.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Poets Sondra Zeidenstein and Cortney Davis
Conversation on "Creativity and Age"
Sunday, March 4th, 2:00 - 3:30pm
Light Refreshments
Suggested donation: $10.00

Cortney Davis and Sondra Zeidenstein invite you to join in a conversation about the relationship of creativity and aging.  Cortney Davis, 66, is a poet, essayist and memoirist. Sondra Zeidenstein, 79, is a poet, artist, editor and publisher. We feel the need to provide an opportunity for such a conversation in order to make sense of our own changing creative lives.

We will give a half hour presentation discussing our own creative paths and how they are changing as we age. Following this, we will facilitate an open conversationin which we will share and explore the experience of creativity and aging with one other. We are especially interested in what happens when a familiar avenue of expression shifts closes or grows weaker. What happens to that creative drive? What takes its place? We believe that what we learn from this conversation will give all of us needed support in the often lonely pursuit of art.
